A darkly humorous take on the future of space travel, where passengers take luxury-liner cruise-ship-style space vacations, with captivating twists and turns!

Synopsis

In 2060, a multi-thousand passenger luxury space cruise ship’s trajectory is knocked off course when the ship’s pilot is inadvertently killed due to a gravity malfunction. What should have been a weeks-long journey back to Earth becomes a years-long trip. The staff, who are largely incompetent, are left to their own devices to attempt to find a solution to the crisis. Efforts to mitigate the damage only result in more harm, impulsive behavior, and civil unrest among the passengers and crew. The battle for survival becomes tense as the fates of the voyagers hang in the balance. With sharp wit and dark humor, the crew must come together to find a way back to Earth.

Lindsay's thoughts

The cast of Avenue 5 are hilariously well-written characters played by fabulously talented comedic actors—Hugh Laurie plays Captain Clark, and supporting members from The Office are featured—which makes what could be a tragic drama into an irreverent comedy. It’s like it was made for me, as I’m a huge fan of that kind of cringe-inducing and occasionally cynical humor!  If you’re like me, you probably enjoy shows with witty and borderline-unbelievable plot lines. Avenue 5 combines clever dialogue with unique characters to produce a brilliantly funny show that poses deeply meta-philosophical predicaments while managing to stay light-hearted. I don’t know why more people aren’t watching this—it’s incredible!
