Watch it for...

The psychological thrill of a futuristic, fast-paced workplace drama that will have you questioning everything you thought you knew about work/life balance!

Synopsis

Lots of people wish they could leave work at the door as soon as they came home at the end of the day…but Severance takes that idea to a whole new level. At Lumen, the ominous workplace at the center of Severance, employees can choose to sever themselves from their “real lives.” Their work-selves and home-selves are two entirely different entities who cannot communicate or remember what goes on once they enter or exit the elevator at the entrance of the building. Directed by Ben Stiller and starring Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, and Christopher Walken, Severance gives off that edge-of-your-seat, watch-in-one-sitting, can’t-wait-for-the-next-episode type of anxiety. From beginning to end, this show is thought-provoking and thrilling in equal measure.

Bryer's thoughts

Usually when I recommend a show, I try not to oversell it, but I promise that Severance will leave you gasping! I don’t want to give away too much of the plot as it’s definitely worth going into without prior knowledge, it really is an incredible show. My husband and I finished the first season within three days...had we started it on the weekend we might have watched it in one sitting!

‍

Not only is this show profoundly suspenseful, it also has many moments of dark humor. The characters are carefully crafted and performed so well on screen. As soon as the season ended, I found myself deep down the Google rabbit hole looking for clues about the characters, the Big Brother-like company Lumen, and fan theories as to why the characters made some of the choices they did. I can’t wait to watch more. Thankfully, Severance has already been renewed for a second season!
